Scholars Honors Program 2012-2014

Benefits of Being an Honors Student:
  • Schoolcraft Scholars receive a total of $1,980 in tuition awards to take six honors courses
  • These courses are not “extra” classes: they fit all majors and programs
  • Work closely with honors faculty
  • Qualify for honors transfer scholarships
  • Transfer directly into an honors program at a four-year college or university

  • Receive recognition at commencements
Applicant Requirements:
  • Be accepted as a student at Schoolcraft College
  • Have a minimum graduating high school or college grade-point average of 3.5
  • Write a personal essay
  • Submit two letters of recommendation from instructors or supervisors outside the applicants’ family
  • Have a personal interview with the Schoolcraft Scholars Co-Director
Commitments during the two years in the program:
  • Complete HUM 190 and SOC 290 along with four Honors options (all classes can be transferred)
  • Maintain a minimum overall 3.5 GPA
  • Complete all honors option courses with 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Complete 100 hours of service learning (we provide many opportunities on and off campus)
  • Attend Honors Orientation
