Students on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Probation or Warning Winter term
For students who are on SAP Probation or Warning during the winter term, your financial aid eligibility for the spring 2013 term cannot be determined until your winter term grades post. If you were granted SAP Probation and met the terms of your probation (completed ALL courses with a minimum 2.0, no withdrawals, or incompletes), your SAP Probation can be extended to the spring term. If you were granted SAP Warning and are now meeting SAP standards (minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 and minimum completion rate of 67%), you will be eligible for financial aid. In either case, your financial aid eligibility for spring 13 will depend on the amount of Pell grant you received during the previous academic terms during 2012-13 and what aid we still have remaining to award.
If a student on SAP Probation or Warning would like to register for spring courses before their winter grades post and their financial aid eligibility is determined they must come into the office to see if they qualify for a SAP Payment Postponement Form. The SAP Payment Postponement Form will allow the student to register spring and not be dropped for non-payment. Once your winter grades post we will evaluate your eligibility for aid.
- If you continue to be eligible for financial aid, we will award the aid you are eligible for and remove the hold.
- If you become ineligible for financial aid, we will remove the hold and you will be dropped from your courses.
Only student’s whose Pell grant eligibility is sufficient to pay tuition/fee charges may be eligible for a Payment Postponement Form. If you believe you may qualify for a payment hold, you will need to come into the Office of Financial Aid and fill out the Payment Postponement Form. Payment Postponement Forms’ cannot be faxed or emailed and must be completed in person in our office. Not all payment hold requests will be granted and they will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Summer Term Financial Aid
Summer term financial aid will require all students to complete the 2013-2014 FAFSA. When filling out the FAFSA, Schoolcraft College strongly recommends all students parents, and spouses (if applicable) to upload the 2012 income tax information to their FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval tool. In order to do so, all parties must have already filed 2012 taxes, at least two weeks prior to filling out the FAFSA. The IRS Data Retrieval tool became available February 1, 2013.
If the summer term will be your first term at Schoolcraft, then you will also have to complete and submit the Application for Admission. Returning students should only have to complete the 2013-2014 FAFSA.
You may only be awarded financial aid once you have been accepted to the college, we have a valid FAFSA on file for you, and you have submitted any additional documentation requested by the Office of Financial Aid. Your summer award notice can be viewed on WebAdvisor.
For additional information on how to apply(see above) or verification please visit the Applying for Aid and Verification section on our main webpage.
Since the summer term is considered a non-standard or elective term, the student will need to notify our office that they plan on enrolling in the summer term so their financial aid can be adjusted. To notify our office, please send the Office of Financial Aid an email and it must include;

- Student ID Number or Social Security Number
- The number of credits you plan on attending during the summer term
(Remember, 10+ credits requires counselor approval)
