Schoolcraft College Fitness Center
Patty Donohue Ebach, Manager, Fitness Center
Patty has been in the fitness, health and wellness field for over 25 years. She has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in Exercise Science and Kinesiology, respectively. She also has a Master of Science certificate in Complementary Medicine and Wellness from Oakland University.
Before assuming the position of Manager of the Schoolcraft College Fitness Center, Patty was an adjunct instructor in the College’s Physical Education department. She also taught nutrition and stress management classes at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, Michigan. Prior to teaching at the College level, Patty worked for Johnson & Johnson, Health & Fitness Services Division,managing fitness centers and wellness programs for corporate clients in the Midwest region of the country.
Lisa Cunningham, Fitness Lead and Personal Trainer
Lisa brings more than eight years in the health, fitness, and recreation industry to the Schoolcraft College Fitness Center. She has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology/Exercise Science from Michigan State University and is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as a personal trainer.
Lisa has also worked as a physical therapy assistant and as the manager of a natural cooking school. She has coached group training sessions for fitness, figure and bikini athletes. With her wide variety of experience in the field of health & fitness, Lisa brings many important skills and abilities to the fitness center and our membership.
Carlin Wilson, Fitness Lead and Personal Trainer
Carlin brings over ten years of experience working in the health & fitness industry to the Schoolcraft Fitness Center. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Dietetics from Western Michigan University, along with a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Lawrence Tech University.
Carlin is certified as a Personal Trainer and has gained Amateur status in Golf, Bodybuilding, Tennis and Basketball. He has also worked in the field of Corporate Wellness, coordinating community wellness projects and managing the content of eight wellness specialists. Carlin is an adjunct faculty member at Macomb Community College in Warren, teaching various health education and fitness courses.
Jason Kurtzhals, Fitness Lead and Personal Trainer
Jason has both military and civilian experience in fitness and health. He is certified by the National Personal Trainer Institute (NPTI) as a personal trainer. Jason is also a group fitness instructor, aquatics instructor and is certified in basic nutrition.
Jason’s fitness background began with the U.S. Air Force, where he served as his unit’s physical training officer. When he was assigned to a special operations unit and deployed to Iraq, he continued to train and condition his fellow troops. As a civilian, he worked with disabled children, special populations and as a group fitness instructor. He has also served as the Detroit Rugby’s team strength and conditioning coach and created an award swimming program at a local fitness club.
Phil Timm, Fitness Lead
Phil Timm brings a variety of fitness and physical education experience to his role as part time Fitness Lead here at the Fitness Center. He graduated from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology in 2003 and has been teaching physical education in the public school system for the past 10 years. Phil is also a certified personal trainer.
In addition to his teaching and personal training background, Phil has worked with spinal cord injury patients and on fall prevention programs. He also enjoys coaching and has coached football and basketball over the past seven years at the middle school level.
Rosemarie Denton, Front Desk Supervisor
Rosemary brings a wide range of experiences to her role in the Fitness Center. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Rosemary has also been a flight attendant and a pharmaceutical representative. Her background gives her the skills to provide exceptional customer service to Fitness Center members.
Walt Stecko, Business Office Manager
Walt has more than 30 years of financial management experience in retail, telecommunications and information technology. He has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Detroit and a Master of Science in Finance from Walsh College. After retiring from AT&T, Walt has been self-employed and served as a consultant to various companies and non-profit organizations.
Meet Our Personal Trainers
Teresa Maguran, Personal Trainer
Teresa has more than 20 years of experience in the health and fitness field. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Eastern Michigan University. She is certified for personal training by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and for group exercise by the Aerobics and Fitness Association (AFAA).
Teresa is certified as an instructor for YogaFit and Silver Sneakers. She is also trained in Stott Pilates and as a Sassy cycle instructor.
Mark Papineau, Personal Trainer
Mark has been an exercise professional for more than 35 years, and has extensive experience at local fitness facilities. He holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science from Michigan State University. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as both a strength and conditioning specialist and a personal trainer.
Mark is also an adjunct faculty member in the College’s Physical Education department and has also taught at Henry Ford Community College and the University of Michigan - Dearborn. Mark’s areas of focus includes athletic strength and conditioning, adult fitness and weight management, women’s health and exercise for the diabetic patient.
Natalie Becker, Personal Trainer
Natalie has been a fitness professional for more than eight years. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Eastern Michigan University. Natalie is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) as a health fitness specialist.
Natalie has worked in city and collegiate recreation centers, corporate fitness facilities and medical fitness centers. She has taught group exercise classes, including spinning, functional training, circuit training and senior strength and balance.
