Pool Safety Rules
- Participants are responsible for recognizing their own limitations & acting in the best interest of their own safety.
- CEPD students are required to agree to the terms of the Schoolcraft College Waiver of Liability – Fitness Classes prior to taking any swim class.
- Participants are required to report any incident/accident to an instructor or lifeguard immediately.
- Children over two (2) years of age are not allowed in locker rooms of the opposite sex.
- During Open Swim, children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult (parent/guardian), and non-swimmers must have direct (in water) supervision by an adult at all times. *A swimmer is defined as being able to swim across the length of the pool unassisted & not touching the bottom.*
- No spectators are allowed on deck; spectators may view classes from the pool balcony.
- No street shoes (i.e. tennis shoes, dress shoes, etc.) are permitted on deck. Use of pool shoes/slippers is highly recommended.
- Clean and proper swim attire is required for all participants. Street clothes such as t-shirts, tank tops, sports bras and cut offs, etc. are not permitted in the pool.
- Children who are not 100% toilet trained must wear a swim diaper or a cotton diaper with rubber pants. Diapers alone are not allowed. Please utilize the locker room or restroom (as opposed to the pool deck) for changing diapers.
- Participants arriving less than ten (10) minutes before class start time can wait in locker room or sit quietly on pool deck bench.
- Participants arriving more than ten (10) minutes before class start time must wait in locker room.
- Participants cannot put feet in the water or enter the pool until class start time.
- Participants must shower with soap prior to entering the pool in order to prevent water contamination. Please refrain from wearing any perfume and/or after shave.
- Any jewelry and/or hair accessories that do not serve any obvious functional purpose (i.e. to keep hair up) are not permitted in the pool.
- Long hair (shoulder length or longer) must be tied back or secured with a swim cap.
- For health reasons: No urinating in the pool, on the deck, or in the showers. Use restroom located in locker room.
- If you leave the pool to use the restroom, please shower off before re-entry.
- In the event that the pool becomes polluted (i.e. vomiting, defecation), participants are to exit the pool immediately. NOTE: For sanitation/cleaning purposes, the pool may be closed for up to 24 hours after this type of event occurs.
- Persons with any open wounds, rashes, infectious conditions and/or bandages will be excluded from using the pool.
- No unauthorized photography is allowed at any time, with any device, including cell phones.
- No food, tobacco, chewing gum, glass bottles or cans are allowed in the pool area or locker rooms.
- No running, skipping, hopping or horseplay of any kind is permitted on deck or in the locker rooms. Please walk on deck and in locker rooms.
- Put swim fins on while sitting at/near edge of pool; do not walk on deck while wearing swim fins.
- Utilize lockers provided in the locker rooms for personal belongings such as gym bags, backpacks, etc. as these items are not permitted in the pool area.
- Unless required class equipment, toys, inflatable items, etc. are not permitted in the pool area.
- Diving is only permitted in the designated area of the pool. Only one person on the diving board at a time.
