Course Description

Examine strategies to proactively address the physical needs of persons living with dementia. As a care professional, identify a physical restraint and discover possible alternatives that can maximize the person's freedom and promote their well-being. See how planning ahead can avoid or reduce the use of physical restraints. Recommendation: CES 4303 Fundamentals of Dementia Care first. This class is an elective to complete the certificate. This class is approved for 2 continuing education contacts hours for nurses by Schoolcraft College, 2 continuing education contact hours for social workers by the Michigan Social Work Continuing Education Collaborative and 0.2 CEUs for other professionals.
