Course Description
Introduction to color composition as it relates to still life and landscape painting will be covered in this course. Students will practice the use of dry-brush and wet-wash techniques.
Prerequisites
(A requirement that must be completed before taking this course.)
- ART 105 recommended or consent of instructor.
Course Competencies
Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Investigate works of art which encourage positive behavior.
- Explain the ways in which the visual arts, watercolor in particular, can function within society.
- Compare water-based media to other art forms.
- Create a watercolor painting with a complementary palette.
- Create a watercolor painting which utilizes the textural qualities of the surface
- Explore different water-based media.
- Construct a watercolor painting that includes the value of the surface in the composition.
- Apply color theory to produce a desired result.
- Utilize the unique qualities of water-based media to express and/or evoke an emotional response.
