Course Description

Instruction will stress the development of strong muscle growth and bone health, as well as improvement of cardiovascular function through the use of resistance bands, X-er tubes, stability balls and free weights.

Prerequisites

(A requirement that must be completed before taking this course.)

  • None.
Course Competencies

Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:

  • Explain the function of resistance training.
  • Demonstrate proper body alignment.
  • Demonstrate the proper use of free weights, resistance bands, X-er tubes, stability balls and all apparatus available.
  • Explain various fitness principles as they relate to exercising purposefully and safely.
  • Explain various fitness principles as they relate to exercising purposefully and safely.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of how to perform exercises in a safe and effective manner.
