Throughout 2013, Southeastern Michigan will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of Henry Ford's birthday with a series of innovative public activities. One of these events is the Fender Bender, a community sculpture project displayed throughout Southeastern Michigan -- and Schoolcraft College will be represented.
Schoolcraft’s Art and Welding Departments are nearly finished with its sculpture, which began with a car fender. The lead faculty artist is welding instructor Melissa Machnee, who is working with more than a dozen students, staff and volunteers on the sculpture.
Fender Bender is being presented by The Dearborn Community Arts Council. Schoolcraft participants will take part in the Fender Bender Community Get Together on June 26 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn.
