Artists Create Sculpture to Celebrate Ford’s Birthday

Ford SculptureThroughout 2013, Southeastern Michigan will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of Henry Ford's birthday with a series of innovative public activities. One of these events is the Fender Bender, a community sculpture project displayed throughout Southeastern Michigan -- and Schoolcraft College will be represented.
Schoolcraft’s Art and Welding Departments are nearly finished with its sculpture, which began with a car fender. The lead faculty artist is welding instructor Melissa Machnee, who is working with more than a dozen students, staff and volunteers on the sculpture. Ford Sculpture 2
Fender Bender is being presented by The Dearborn Community Arts Council. Schoolcraft participants will take part in the Fender Bender Community Get Together on June 26 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center in Dearborn.
