Schoolcraft College’s chapter, Omicron Iota, of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for community colleges, recently attended the Michigan Regional Convention at Delta College in Saginaw. The leadership of the PTK came home with several regional awards, not the least of which being Five-Star Level recognition, the highest award given for chapter development. Other awards, which were judged on written essays submitted by PTK members, were presented to:
  •  College Project Hallmark, First Runner-up, for the chapter’s research and advocacy of the SCcares program on campus. SCcares is a new initiative created to provide resources and information to students, faculty, and staff, including an online reporting tool that allows for anonymous reporting of general incidents and complaints; submission of academic appeals or concerns about academic integrity; or to report concerning or threatening behavior.
  • Distinguished Officer Team Award, recognizing the nine-member leadership team for the chapter.
  •  Distinguished Member Award presented to Dearborn Heights resident Mary Stefanoski, membership chair for the Radcliff Center.
  • Most Distinguished Chapter Award, Third Runner-up, for overall efforts amongst the 28 community colleges in Michigan. #SCptk
