Student Ashi Arora Earns AFP's Distinguished Volunteer Award

The Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater Detroit Chapter will recognize Schoolcraft College student Ashi Arora as a Distinguished Volunteer at its Annual National Philanthropy Day (NPD) Dinner, Wednesday, November 13 at the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center.

Distinguished Volunteers are the advocates, leaders and mentors whose passion for their respective causes inspires philanthropic action and community involvement in southeast Michigan.

Arora’s past accomplishments consist of being active in organizations including the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the Schoolcraft Connection newspaper, Student Activities, the University Bound Program, the Asian Students Association and she takes a full course load at Schoolcraft College. Her most recent work is the Coins to Change program at Schoolcraft College and the Wayne County Family Shelter project. She has helped raise funds for building a school in Nyaka, Uganda, for orphans. Each year, she helps put together Christmas gifts for the children of the Wayne County Family Shelter.
