Counseling Department Sponsors Movie Screening and Discussion About Eating Disorders
Feb 10, 2014
February is Eating Disorder Awareness Month. Schoolcraft College’s Counseling Department is sponsoring a special event raising awareness of this issue that affects millions of Americans, especially young adult women. Dying to be Thin, a PBS-NOVA production narrated by Susan Sarandon, is a sobering but hopeful documentary examining the disturbing increase in the prevalence of eating disorders, particularly anorexia and bulimia. During the movie students, ballet dancers, fashion models and other young women share their stories about recovery and conquering their diseases.
Faculty, staff, students and the community are invited to attend this screening and discussion that will be led by Stuart Baker, MA, LPC, a staff counselor at Schoolcraft College, on Thurs., Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. in the VisTaTech Center on the main campus in Livonia.
