Those who have passed a Schoolcraft College Introduction to Firearms class, CPL Certification class, or are a Police Academy Graduate can become members of and access the college’s indoor Firearms Range to hone their skills with firearms. The range will be available Wed. – Thurs. 5 – 9 p.m., Fri. 9 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sat. 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. and noon – 5 p.m. on Sun. One-hour sessions are $17 (half-hour sessions are $12).Firearms will be available to rent for an additional $15/session; ear and eye protection can be rented for $2/session. In addition to Firing Range membership, Schoolcraft College Continuing Education and Professional Development department along with the FTC will be offering several new classes focused on gun safety and emergency preparedness. Investing in Firearms, Introduction to Firearms Training Simulator, Cleaning and Storing Your Firearm, Refresher for Carrying Concealed Pistols and Emergency Preparedness For You and Your Family will have one-day (mostly two- or four-hour evening sessions) throughout the fall, starting in mid-September.
These new classes are being offered in addition to some of the college’s most popular public safety-oriented classes also held at the Firearms Training Center in Livonia. Introduction to Firearm Handling, Firearms Training for Concealed Pistol License and all three levels of Precision Driving will be offered in several one-day sessions as well this fall.
