Career Rejuvenation Seminars with career coach, Jay Block
On Saturday, January 23, from 9 a.m. to noon, Schoolcraft College will host Career Rejuvenation Seminars with Jay Block, a best-selling author, industry pioneer and leader and an award winning master career coach. The cost is $39. Space is limited and early registration is encouraged.
Winter Carnival Jan. 19-20 features a variety of fun activities for students
The Schoolcraft College Student Activities Office will host a Winter Carnival January 19-20 to welcome students back to campus after the winter break. Activities will be held in the Lower Waterman (inside VisTaTech) from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. There will be lots of food, fun, games, prizes and contests for everyone to enjoy.
Events commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Jan. 18
Bridging Barriers: Unity in Diversity, a new group sponsored by the Schoolcraft College International Institute, will host a special Martin Luther King Jr. commemorative day of events Monday, January 18th from 9:00am-3:00pm in Room 200 of the McDowell Center on the main campus in Livonia
Blood Drive for American Red Cross Feb. 9 - 10
The American Red Cross will be on the Livonia campus Tuesday, February 9 and Wednesday, February 10 from 9 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to participate in this important blood drive.

Pageturners hosts discussions of "Born on a Blue Day," by Daniel Tammet, in January
This unique first-person account offers a window into the mind of a high-functioning, 31-year-old British autistic savant with Asperger's syndrome. He has the most unimaginable mental powers, much like those protrayed by Dustin Hoffman in the film "Rain Man." Discussions of the book will be held January 25, 26 and 28.

Homeland Security Program at Schoolcraft College 2009-10
Following the terrorist attacks on the U.S. in 2001, the security industry has seen tremendous growth, both in the number of jobs to be filled and in the scope of the work security professionals perform. One of the fastest growing specialties in this field is homeland security.
Learn about the new Innovative Culinary Technology Certificate program Jan. 11
The Innovative Culinary Technology Certificate program is a three-course curriculum with an optional internship. Interested candidates can attend an Open House Monday, January 11, 9 a.m. - noon, to tour the facilities and meet the instructors who will be able to answer questions and give an overview of the program. The Open House will be held in the Culinary Arts Demonstration Lab in the VisTaTech Center.
Learn about "Edible Wild Plants" during luncheon on Jan. 22
Presented by the Transition Center, Jim and Theresa Magyari will share their knowledge during a luncheon and presentation Friday, January 22, beginning at 11:45 a.m. Tickets are $16 per person and preregistration is required. To register call 734-462-4443.
Free Transition to College workshop series for adults begins Feb. 18
The Transition to College workshop series addresses the concerns and challenges adults face when considering a return to (or starting) college. The series of workshops focuses on relieving some of the anxiety that many adults see as an obstacle between themselves and a college education. The series of workshops is free. Class size is limited.
