Pageturners book and movie selection explore Inuit culture in November

The book, The Long Exile, by Melanie McGrath, and the movie Nanook of the North, are the focus of Pageturners' November selections. The book will be discuss Monday, November 14, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, November 15 at 10:15 a.m. The movie will be shown and discussed Thursday, November 17 at 1 p.m.

Friday Evening Concert Series features renowned cellist and pianist on November 18

In the second installment of Schoolcraft College’s 2011-12 Friday Evening Music Series, cellist Robert deMaine and pianist Pauline Martin will perform on Friday, November 18 at 8 p.m. The concert will be held in the VisTaTech Center on the college’s main campus in Livonia. Tickets are $20 per person, $10 for students.

Come cheer on the Ocelots during Spirit Night on November 30

The men's and women's basketball teams will take on Kellogg Community College on Wednesday, November 30 at 5:30 p.m. (women) and 7:30 p.m. (men). Tickets are only $5 and commemorative t-shirts will also be on sale for only $5. All proceeds benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit. There will be lots of other fun entertainment and activities as well.

Schoolcraft College is providing several opportunities for you to experience the sounds of the season as well as world-renowned professional musical talent throughout the month of December. Most of these concerts and performances are free and all are open to the public.

Gingerbread Village is on display until December 14

The public is welcome to visit Schoolcraft College to experience an entire village made of gingerbread, candy and the imaginations of culinary arts students.  The "Holidays Around the World" themed fantasy village will be on display until December 14 in the lobby of the VisTaTech Center.

Jeff Dwarshuis, classical guitarist, to perform free concert November 16

Jeff Dwarshuis, classical guitarist will perform a free concert on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, as part of the Schoolcraft College's annual Noon Concert Series. The performance will be held in the VisTaTech Center on the college's main campus in Livonia, and is free and open to the public.

Transition Center Luncheon features "History and Design of Women's Hat Wear" on December 2

On Friday, December 2, 2011, the Transition Center of Schoolcraft College will host a tea party luncheon, and hats are encouraged. Valerie Greech will discuss "History and Design of Women's Hat Wear" at 11:30 a.m. in the VisTaTech Center. Reservations, which must be made by November 23, are $20 per person and include a delicious lunch.

A'Tribute to Donald Morelock' is theme of free concert on December 7

A 'Tribute to Donald Morelock' is the next performance in the Noon Concert Series hosted by Schoolcraft College. Former students of Morelock will perform a variety of selections honoring their teacher and mentor on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. The performance will be held in the VisTaTech Center on the college's main campus in Livonia, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads, and is free and open to the public.
