Piano Academy to host Open House for children and adults on May 22

On Sunday, May 22,  from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. children and their parents are invited to attend a special Open House to learn more about Schoolcraft’s Piano Academy for grades 1-12. The Piano Academy begins in September and runs through the school year with 32 weeks of group and private lessons.  The Open House will be held in the Forum Building on the college’s main campus in Livonia.

Senior Expo comes to Schoolcraft College on May 17

Once again Schoolcraft College will be the site for the 8th annual Spring Senior Expo presented by the Observer & Eccentric and Hometown Newspapers, WWJ-950 AM and AM 580. The free Senior Expo will run from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. and will feature a variety of activities including workshops, demonstrations, prizes and activities.

Golf Classic Fore Scholarships is June 6 at Walnut Creek Country Club

The Schoolcraft College Foundation will be hosting the 28th Annual Golf Classic Fore Scholarships on Monday, June 6 at the Walnut Creek Country Club in South Lyon. Play begins at noon with a Shotgun start. Individual players, pairs and foursomes are welcome and there are a variety of sponsorship opportunities are available as well.

Electric Vehicle Show & Rally draws 2,000 to campus

Some 2,000 people attended the Third Annual Electric Vehicle Show and Rally at Schoolcraft June 11. They had the opportunity to see the cars up-close, talk to the owners, and go for a short ride in an EV with the owner driving. There were also displays of new products and services; a presentation on how to convert from gas-powered cars to electric power; and information about SC's programs related to the EV industry. The event was free and open to the public.

Schoolcraft graduate is winner of prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship

During the recent 46th annual Commencement Ceremony, Dr. Conway A. Jeffress, President of Schoolcraft College, announced before a crowd of approximately 3,500 graduates, family members, faculty and staff that Matthew Cornett of Northville was the recipient of the prestigious Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship.

Schoolcraft College’s Math Team Wins First Place in Midwest Competition

Schoolcraft College’s Math Team won First Place in the Student Math League Contest, beating our 50 other colleges from 18 different states representing both the Midwest and Central regions. This win represents the best showing ever by the college’s Math Team.

No-classes-cancelled Guarantee Offered for Winter

In an effort to better serve students, Schoolcraft will not cancel a section of a credit class in Winter 2012 based on the number of students enrolled in that section. The hope is that students will be better able to plan ahead and to achieve their educational goals if they know that certain classes are going to run.
