Schoolcraft celebrates Grand Re-Opening of I-275 Trail

Schoolcraft College is part of the June 4 "Grand Re-Opening Celebration" for the I-275 Metro Trail, which is the paved trail that runs along the eastern side of the freeway.

Events are planned at I-275 Metro Trail South (Hines Drive to Michigan Avenue) and I-275 Metro Trail North (Hines Drive to Seven Mile Road). Most of the I-275 North activities are centered in Schoolcraft's South Parking Lot.

Events at Schoolcraft include:

10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Geocaching demonstration

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Children's helmet fitting and bike safety clinic (free children's helmets while supplies last)

10 a.m. & Noon Bike safety talk by Northville Township Police Officer Jim Fisher

10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Cycling a smoothie (make a smoothie by pedaling away)

10:30 a.m. - Noon Guided urban walk/hike around Haggerty Road and the trail (meet at registration table in South Parking Lot)

2 p.m. Drawings for prizes

There will also be volunteers available to show riders how to use the Hines Connector to get from the north end of the trail to the south end.
