Soprano, Martha Guth, and pianist, Jean Schneider, perform free concert April 18

On Wednesday, April 18, 2012, Schoolcraft College will host a free concert by Martha Guth, soprano, and Jean Schneider, piano. The concert will be held at noon in the VisTaTech Center on the college's main campus in Livonia, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads. This is the final performance in the 2011-12 Noon Concert Series.

The program will include works by Francis Poulenc, Benjamin Britten, Srul Irving Glick and Franz Schubert.

Acclaimed for her ‘intuitive sensitivity’ by the Montreal Gazette, and her ‘thrilling top range, rare breath control and an awesome legato’ by the Globe and Mail, soprano Martha Guth has emerged onto the  International classical music scene as a persuasive and passionate artist. On the concert stage, Martha has performed with the Bach Akademie Orchestra, The Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Santa Fe Symphony, the Hamilton Symphony, the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, the National Arts Centre Orchestra and the Calgary Philharmonic.

Pianist Jean Schneider is repetiteur for the Michigan Opera Theatre in Detroit. In that capacity she has worked under the batons of some of the world’s best-known opera conductors. A gifted recital accompanist, she has performed frequently at Kerrytown Concert House, and works regularly with singers throughout North America, Europe, and Asia as both pianist and coach.
