29th annual Golf Classic Fore Scholarships is June 4

The Schoolcraft College Foundation will be hosting the 29th Annual Golf Classic Fore Scholarships on Monday, June 4, 2012, at the Walnut Creek Country Club in South Lyon, continuing with its proud and strong legacy of providing scholarships to Schoolcraft College students.
There is still space available for individual players, pairs and foursomes for the noon Shotgun start. The day will begin with registration at 10:30 a.m., a buffet lunch will be served at 11 a.m. and the event will conclude with a dinner and awards ceremony at following completion of play. A silent auction featuring a variety of great items will be held throughout the day with winners announced during the lunch.
Tickets are $250 per person. The ticket price includes 18 holes of golf with power cart, complimentary beverages on course, use of the putting green and driving range, access to the club’s locker room facilities and all meals.
Sponsorship packages range from $350 for Hole Sponsorship to $15,000 for Event Sponsorship. The best value sponsorship package, the President’s Club, includes golf for four players, sponsorship signage at on-course beverage stations, and a half-page ad in the banquet program, all for only $1,200. All proceeds benefit the Foundation and provide for scholarships and grants that enhance educational opportunities for our students.
“The Golf Classic is crucial to our fundraising efforts and is a long-standing tradition,” said Golf Classic organizer Marjorie Lynch.  “Each year, nearly 200 golfers from all over southeast Michigan participate.  It’s a great way to show  support for Schoolcraft College students, network with fellow golfers and enjoy a great round of golf at one of southeast Michigan’s finest private golf facilities.”

“Our students are facing financial burdens in these tight economic times and are struggling to support themselves while working toward a college degree or retraining for new job opportunities,” she added.
Kelly Wal knows first-hand the important role that participants in the Golf Classic Fore Scholarships are to the students of Schoolcraft College. “I’d emptied my bank account, almost to the last dollar. I was beginning to think that I wouldn’t be able to go much further with my education,” Wal said. “Then I got the letter from the Schoolcraft College Foundation that read, ‘Congratulations, you’ve received a scholarship.’ Thank you to all the golfers and sponsors and other donors who made it possible for me to continue to go to school.”
