Piano program open house is May 19

Find out why the Schoolcraft College piano program produces so many accomplished young pianists by visiting the department open house on Saturday, May 19. Prospective students and their parents can meet instructors, have on-site interviews, hear current piano students perform, and watch demonstrations of group lessons.

The open house takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Forum Building on the Livonia campus. Visitors can start in room 310, then tour the electronic labs and the practice and recital spaces.

Two programs will be highlighted at the open house:

  • The Summer Piano School, a two-week session designed to supplement regular lessons, as students focus on particular techniques, work in groups and perform in a recital; or a two-week session for advanced piano students, during which they practice a piano concerto and end by performing with a professional string ensemble.
  • The Piano Academy, in which students in the first grade through high school participate in ongoing group and private lessons throughout the year. Beginner, intermediate and advanced pupils are welcome.
