Concerto Camp students offer free recitals

Summer piano school students will present three concerts of classic concertos Tuesday through Thursday, July 17-19 in the Presentation Room of the VisTaTech Center at Schoolcraft College. Each concert will last approximately one hour and feature seven students. The concerts begin at 7 p.m. and are free.

These young artists spent two weeks, studying and learning concertos and chamber music, which they rehearse and perform with a professional string ensemble. At the public concerts, the string ensemble — the Ambassador Chamber Players — will accompany each student in movements from piano concertos by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Hayden, Mendelssohn and Mozart.

There also will be chamber works, including an original piano trio composed by Nicole DiPaola of Northville and performed on Wednesday, July 18. These recitals are a wonderful way to watch young artists as they grow and develop their individual styles. Bring young piano students you know who can gauge their own progress and set new goals.
