Auditions for "Butterflies are Free" are Sept. 8-9

Auditions for the Theatre Department's fall production, "Butterflies Are Free," will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9 in the Liberal Arts Theatre.

Leonard Gershe's "Butterflies Are Free" is about a handsome young bachelor who wants a place of his own away from his over-protective mother, so he moves to a cramped cold-water flat.  His kooky neighbor wants to live a life free of commitment and responsibility; and after meeting the bachelor, she proposes to remove the connecting door to their two apartments.  When the young man's mother and the girl next door meet, the two simply do not mix.  In this romantic comedy, you will laugh and connect as the triangle of characters discover independence, commitment, love, and each other.  "Butterflies Are Free" will be performed on Friday  and Saturday evenings, October 23-24, November 6-7 and 13-14.

In addition to filling the roles for "Butterflies Are Free," performers will have an opportunity to participate in preliminary auditions for the Theatre Department's winter production, "King Lear." There are more than 35 roles to fill for this production. Auditions are open to all students, faculty and staff of Schoolcraft College and the general public.
