Songs of Love and Loss are theme for free concert April 13
Songs of Love and Loss will be performed by pianist Logan Skelton and soprano Jennifer Goltz during a free concert at noon on Wednesday, April 13 in the VisTaTech Center.
During this final installment of the 2010-11 Noon Concert Series presented by Schoolcraft College's Music Department, Skelton and Goltz will perform nine songs for soprano and piano set to the poetry of Tennessee Williams.
Pianist Logan Skelton is a much sought after pianist, teacher and composer whose work has received international critical acclaim. Having performed widely throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, he also has an extensive recording repertoire, including ten discs of solo and chamber music. He recently received the prestigious Harold Haugh Award for excellence in studio teaching from the University of Michigan School of Music, where he is currently a professor of piano and director of doctoral studies in piano performance.
Soprano Jennifer Goltz specializes in the performance of new music and fin de siècle art song. In recent years, she has become known for her sensitive and elegant Mozart interpretations, and has appeared as soprano soloist in performances of the Mass in C Minor, Coronation Mass, and Requiem at the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt, Austria and Stephansdom in Vienna. Goltz holds master's degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Theory and a Ph.D. in Music Theory from the University of Michigan.
