Auditions for Dracula are September 6 & 7 at Schoolcraft College

The Schoolcraft College Theatre Department’s fall production is Dracula, by Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston. Auditions will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, September 6 and 7, at 7:00 p.m. in the Liberal Arts Theatre on the college’s main campus in Livonia, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads. No previous theatre experience is required and the auditions are open to all students, faculty, staff, and the general public. The performances of Dracula will be on Friday and Saturday evenings, October 28-29, and November 4-5 and 11-12.
As in Bram Stoker’s famous novel, Hamilton Deane and John L. Balderston have adapted the story of a vampire.  In this play, a mysterious presence appears at Dr. Seward’s sanatorium near London.  The lives of a beautiful young woman and her idealistic fiancé are challenged.  In the light of a full ripe moon, creeping shadows, crying patients, dogs howling, and bats flying the stage becomes filled with the irresistible charm of evil.  The struggle of three mortal men against the satanic genius of Dracula is both terrifying and thrilling.  Deane and Balderston’s Dracula is a gripping, breathtaking battle between the forces of evil and the forces of good.
