Soccer, volleyball coaches named Coach of the Year

Schoolcraft College sports teams continued their winning ways this fall in men's soccer and women's volleyball. Men's soccer won the Michigan Community College Athletic Association state championship. Women's volleyball won the MCCAA state, conference and regional championships and finished third in the country.

Soccer coach Rich Larson was named the MCAA 2006 Coach of the Year. Larson has coached women's soccer for a number of years and won several local and regional titles and honors. He stresses that students are students first and athletes second, and the primary reason for being at Schoolcraft is to get an education.

Volleyball coach Tom Teeters was named MCCAA Coach of the Year, Conference Coach of the Year and National Junior College Athletic Association Region XII/District D Coach of the Year. Teeters has coached at high school, college and university level, and has led Schoolcraft to a national championship and national second place.
