Cheryl Hagen, dean of student services, heads state group

Schoolcraft’s Cheryl Hagen, dean of student services, is the 2007-08 president elect of the Michigan Community College Student Services Association. The organization provides a forum for professionals to share experience and exchange ideas. One of Hagen ’s first duties as incoming president is to organize the October conference.

Hagen joined Schoolcraft in 2001 as associate dean of enrollment management. She had earlier positions at Central Michigan University’s College of Extended Learning and at Cleary College. Enrollment management is still a strong priority, and Hagen is heading a strategic enrollment management project on campus.

According to Hagen, the project will be a systemic, data-driven effort to reach the college’s optimal enrollment, revenue and student success. It also is consumer driven, learning from data who are potential students and what they want, as well as what the college offers and what it might be able to offer.
