Get ready for college with a skill-building foundation course this spring or summer

What is a foundation course?

•   College-level courses are numbered according to grade level:
      -   100 for freshman             -   200 for sophomore
      -   300 for junior                    -   400 for senior
•   Not all students are ready for 100 and higher level courses in subjects like English, math and science.
•   By completing a foundation course first, these students prepare themselves for higher level courses.
•   Foundation courses are recognizable by course numbers that are under 100:
      -   BIOL 050 Basic Biology, MATH 047 Prealgebra, etc.

Who takes foundation courses?
•   Students of all ages take foundation courses, including new high school graduates who need to strengthen their skills in certain areas, and adult students who have been away from school and need a refresher course (read more about these courses and how they benefit both types of student).

Who decides if I should take a foundation course?
•   Your academic advisor will help you determine if you should take one or more foundation courses
