Schoolcraft College invites school-age pianists to Summer Piano Camp June 25-29

Schoolcraft College’s renowned Music Department is sponsoring a special week-long Summer Piano Camp for school-age students June 25-29, 2012. Piano students at the elementary, intermediate and advanced levels will enjoy this unique experience and change of pace from their traditional private lessons.
From 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day during the Summer Piano Camp, participants will have classes in composition, theory, rhythm, and music history; will perform solo repertoire, piano duets, and piano ensembles; and focus on sight-reading skills. A closing recital will be performed at 7 p.m. on the final day of the camp, Friday, June 29.
Five talented music professionals will lead the camp activities. Michele Mustert is a veteran of the Schoolcraft Piano Academy since 1997. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano performance and pedagogy and has served on the faculties of the University of Michigan Piano Pedagogy Laboratory Program, the MacPhail School of Music and the St. Thomas Conservatory of Music in Minnesota.
Dr. Barton Polot is a versatile instructor at Schoolcraft College where he teaches music theory, ear training, and electronic music composition. He is a widely-known national clinician, lecturer and author on applications of technology in music education.
Ann Marie Cohoon has been on the faculty of the Schoolcraft Piano Academy since 2003, teaching in both group and private settings. She has a creative and enthusiastic teaching style that Summer Piano Camp participants enjoy and embrace.
Julia Siciliano holds a bachelor’s degree from the Eastman School of Music and a master’s degree in music from the University of Michigan where she studied with Logan Skelton. She is a national and international performance award winner and is active as both a soloist and chamber musician.
Caroline Kuo has a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Taiwan University and is pursuing a master’s in piano pedagogy from Eastern Michigan University. She has trained in several international piano camps including St. Petersburg Music Conservatory in Russia and Victoria College of the Arts in Australia.
Tuition for the Summer Piano Camp is $275. Deadline for registering is Monday, June 11. Auditions and interviews are required for placement. Registration materials can be requested and appointments can be scheduled by calling 734-462-4403.
