Learn more about Pharmaceutical Sterile Compounding Training program on August 29
Schoolcraft College, in conjunction with MK Education, a leader in healthcare education and consulting, will be offering a Pharmaceutical Sterile Compounding Training program to those working in the pharmaceutical and healthcare fields.
On Wednesday, Aubust 29, 2012, pharmacy technicians and healthcare professionals can learn more about the program at a special, free informational session in the Biomedical Technology Center on the college's main campus in Livonia.
The Pharmaceutical Sterile Compounding Training program will give pharmacy technicians and healthcare professionals a chance to expand their current skill set by learning to prepare intravenous medications and other sterile products. Students will study sterile aseptic drug preparation, the technique involving procedures designed to prevent contamination of drugs, packaging, equipment, or supplies by microorganisms during processing; become proficient in sterile product and aseptic admixture techniques; and discover the principles of sterile product manipulation for the purpose of drug doses and products. The curriculum meets or exceeds guidelines and standards required by the U.S. Pharmacopeia’s (USP) Revised General Chapter <797> and <795> Pharmaceutical Compounding— Sterile Preparations.
Requirements for registering for the Pharmaceutical Sterile Compounding Training program include successful completion of Schoolcraft’s Pharmacy Technician training or successful completion of a pharmacy technician training program at another location and successful completion of a competency exam at Schoolcraft; or currently employed as a pharmacy technician with two years of work experience.
