Phlebotomy program an intro to health fields

Phlebotomists are trained to draw blood from patients when a large specimen of blood is needed for testing. These specialists work in medical offices, clinics and other health-care facilities.

A student in the phlebotomy program receives a skills certificate after earning 16 credits, which can be accomplished in two semesters. Because the entire health industry is growing with the aging of the baby boomer generation, the graduate has an excellent chance of finding employment.

The phlebotomy program is housed at the Radcliff Center in Garden City and is part of the medical assisting curriculum. Credits earned in the phlebotomy program can be applied toward a medical assisting certificate. The medical assisting programs are popular choices for students.
