Free Lunchtime Concert Series features Louis Nagel Dec. 9

Schoolcraft College’s Music Department will present a free concert by pianist Louis Nagel on Wednesday, December 9 at noon in the Presentation Room of the VisTaTech Center located on the college’s main campus in Livonia, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads.
Nagel has coupled an illustrious performing career with an equally distringuished academic career, having taught at the University of Michigan since 1969. He is currently director of the Theatre & Dance Outreach Program at U-M, and is advisor to thte Bachelor of Musical Arts degree program.
In demand as a perfomer, adjudicator, and lecturer, he has appeared in festivals across the United States, given acclaimed recitals in New York, and has performed in the National Gallery in Washington, D.C. His recital/lectures at Ann Arbor’s Kerrytown Concert House are very popular events. Nagel also appears frequently in chamber music programs throughout metropolitan Detroit.
Nagel will be performing Bach and Liszt’s Fantasy and Fugue in G Minor; Papillons, Opus 2 by Schumann; and Schubert’s Fantasy in C Major, D. 760.
The concert by Nagel is part of the college’s Free Noon Concert Music Series. The remaining concerts in the series include the Plymouth Symphony Players with Washburn on February 24; Schoolcraft Faculty Recital on March 24; and tenor Christopher Scholl with pianist Kevin Bylsma on April 21.
