Learn about careers as a Professional Pharmacy Technician in a free workshop January 4

You can learn more about Schoolcraft College’s  Professional Pharmacy Technician training program and pharmacy tech careers during a free workshop and information session on Wednesday, January 4 at 6 p.m. The session will be held in the VisTaTech Center on the college's main campus in Livonia.

Whether you’re interested in becoming a pharmacy technician; you are preparing for the certification exam; you are a pre-pharmacy student; or you have a healthcare background and are looking to strengthen your current skills, Schoolcraft College's Professional Pharmacy Technician training program is just what you are looking for. During the 14-week program you will be introduced to various pharmacy practice settings covering topics such as drug classes, basic physiology, drug interactions, and daily pharmacy operations. You will learn to effectively assist in pharmaceutical preparations/calculations and complete daily required tasks in any pharmacy environment.

The outlook for pharmacy technicians is very positive. Demand for pharmacy techs is expected to be up 18% in the next five years, with hospitals and merchant wholesalers anticipating job growth in the field. According EMSI (Economic Modeling Specialists, Inc.) the average annual earnings for a pharmacy technician is $35,000.

Schoolcraft College's Continuing Education and Professional Development offers the course in both an evening schedule from 6 - 9:10 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning January 16, and a Saturday schedule from 9 a.m. - 4:10 p.m. beginning January 21.
