Expert on Palestinian Gender Relations to Speak at Schoolcraft

Fadwa Allabadi, a Fulbright visiting scholar at the Center for Arab American Studies at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, will speak about gender relations in Palestinian society at Schoolcraft College on Tuesday, Nov. 14.

She will speak at 1 p.m. in room 200 of the Liberal Arts Building on the Livonia campus. Allabadi’s presentation is free and open to the public.

Allabadi is director of the INSAN Center for Gender Studies at Al-Quds University in Jerusalem and is deeply involved in gender equality issues in Palestine.

With degrees in Women’s Studies, International and Comparative Legal Studies and Arabic language, Allabadi is a founding member and activist in several organizations. They include the Federation of the Palestinian Women’s Action Committee, the Women’s Studies Center in East Jerusalem, and the General Committee of the Palestinian Teachers.

She is the author of numerous publications, is a consultant on gender issues and is a regular participant in conferences and seminars on Arabic and Palestinian issues.
