Cellist Debra Fayroian Performs in Schoolcraft Noon Concert

The Solo Suite for Violoncello by Cassado and Beethoven’s Sonata in A Major for Piano and Violoncello Opus 69 are the featured works on a free noon concert at Schoolcraft College Wednesday, March 28.

Cellist Debra Fayroian is the soloist in the first work, and is joined by pianist Maria Meirelles for the Beethoven sonata. A member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra from 1976 until 2006, Fayroian has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

She has been guest artist and clinician at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, artist at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, and is a performing artist of the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival. She served as founding artistic director of the Nightnotes Series in Birmingham and in 2004 was appointed music director of the Manitou Music Festival in northern Michigan. She is a music advisor for Oakland Township’s Music in the Meadows concert series.

Fayroian is a cellist with the Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings and maintains a private class of students and young chamber musicians. She has conducted master classes at the University of Michigan, and at Eastern Michigan and Oakland universities.
