Motorcycle Safety Classes Have Openings

Published: 5/10/2007

Summer is the perfect season for biking in the sunshine. Before you jump on that motorcycle, or if you’ve finally decided it’s time to learn, sign up for a motorcycle safety education course at Schoolcraft College.

The college, through a grant from the Michigan Department of State, offers classes in basic riding, in riding skills to qualify for a license, and for experienced cyclists who own large touring motorcycles and sport bikes.

The basic rider course offers 16 hours of instruction during one or two weekends or on weekdays or nights and bikes are provided. The two advanced classes are one-day sessions and students must provide their own bikes.

If classes are closed, students can use the walk-in option, by arriving at the classroom no earlier than 30 minutes before the first class session ready to register, pay and attend al classes. Their names will be included in a random drawing for available spots.

A complete schedule of motorcycle safety classes is posted at www.schoolcraft.edu/ces/motorcycle.asp. For more information call the motorcycle information hotline at (734) 462-4452.

Schoolcraft College is a public two-year college, offering classes at the Livonia campus on Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile roads, at the Radcliff Center in Garden City and online.
