Transitions Center combines resources for students
     The college’s Transitions Center, located in the McDowell Center, Room 225, will be home to four important service areas for prospective and current students, including Women’s Resource Center, Adult Student Services, Family Resources and Student Engagement Programs. Combining these services into one location will provide students, staff and the community with one touchpoint for finding resources as they move through nearly every type of transition they might experience, both educationally and personally.
     Highlights of the resources that will be available through the Transitions Center include:
Women’s Resource Center:
• CHIPS (name to be changed to Students in Transition Empowerment Program (STEP) for Fall 2009)
• Divorce Support
• Annual fundraising dinner and periodic luncheon speaker series
• Helping women in transition
Adult Student Services:
• Financial Planning Programming
• Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
• College Is An Option
• Support for workers in transition
• Support for adult students needing referrals to the Learning Assistance Center, student organizations, etc.
Family Resources:
• On campus recruiting information for students interested in exploring Schoolcraft College
• Ombudsman
• Web site for parents/families
Student Engagement Programs:
• Women’s History Month Programming
• Schedule Building
• Women On The Way/high school to college transition program (coming in Fall 2009)
• Multicultural Fair
