New Mediation Certificate Program at Schoolcraft College
LIVONIA, MI— the Schoolcraft College Continuing Education and Professional Development Department in conjunction with Alternative Dispute Resolution Consortium (ADRC) are proud to be offering training in mediation. “Mediation is quickly becoming a popular alternative to other legal methods as the demand for those skilled in this area is expected to increase due to backlogs in the legal system,” says Sherry Zylka, Associate Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development.
The new mediation program is designed to accommodate all levels of education and experience. Individuals in the legal field (judges, lawyers & paralegals), people in the business world, and students, from lifelong learners to entry level, will find the classroom exercises and instruction is flexible and provides tools for success.
This comprehensive Michigan State Court Administrative Office (SCAO) approved training program is a combination of role-play, lecture, simulation, class exercises, discussion, interactive student response and videos of actual mediation. The 40 hour program walks participants through the process of divorce and custody mediation from the orientation session to the completed memorandum of understanding. Completion of each course will qualify you to receive a certificate in the individual course. Completion of all courses will quanlify students to receive a certificate from Schoolcraft College.
Registration for the spring/summer semester is going on now. Class size is limited. For more information, contact the Continuing Education and Professional Development Department at 734-462-4448 or visit www.schoolcraft.edu/mediation or email continueed@schoolcraft.edu.
