Summer Piano School classes being June 15

     LIVONIA, MI—Schoolcraft College’s Summer Piano School classes focusing on solo piano performances and piano duets will be held June 15-26. Sessions for elementary level students will be held Monday-Friday, from 9 a.m. - noon. Intermediate and advanced level students will be in sessions Monday – Friday, from 1 – 4 p.m. Activities will include classes in composition, theory, rhythm and music history; two-piano repertoire and piano duets; Master classes; sightreading and keyboarding skill development; and performance opportunities. The two-week session will culminate with a recital on Friday, June 26. Tuition is $310 and students new to the Schoolcraft College Summer Piano School will need to audition.
     In addition, students can participate in a unique opportunity focused on piano concertos and chamber music during another session planned for July 6-10. Activities will include individual coaching sessions; rehearsals with orchestra; instruction in music theory, skills, technique and history; and the rare opportunity to rehearse and perform with a professional string ensemble. From July 13 -16, students will participate in dress rehearsals and evening performances to demonstrate all they have learned. Tuition is $310 and all students must audition before being accepted and will be required to memorize one movement of a piano concerto.
