Schoolcraft College hosts several career exploration and enhancement events

 LIVONIA, MI— This winter, the Continuing Education and Professional Development department at Schoolcraft College will be hosting several events that will appeal to transitional workers and high school and college students who are exploring career options. The workshops, information sessions, seminars and open houses include:
• Free Career Workshop to learn more about our Professional Pharmacy Technician training program – Wednesday, January 6th at 6pm in the VisTaTech Center, room 455.
• Free Information Session to learn more about our brand new Innovative Culinary Technology certificate program – Monday, January 11th at 10am in in the VisTaTech Center, room 630.  With the technological advances in commercial kitchens moving swiftly into the future, staying current is vital for cooks and professional chefs as the demand for accelerated cooking methods are increasing in commercial settings.  This is a great opportunity for chefs in the region to advance their education and attend Schoolcraft’s highly regarded culinary school. (Must have culinary degree or at least 5 years of field experience)
• Free Career Workshop to learn more about our Conflict Resolution Specialist training program – Wednesday, January 27th at 6pm in the VisTaTech Center, room 455.
• Kids on Campus Open House – Tuesday, March 16th at 5:30pm in the VisTaTech Center, DiPonio room.  Parents and kids can come on out to discover the wide variety of summer camps offered through this popular summer camp program.  Attendees will be able to meet instructors and ask questions, see class demonstrations, tour the campus and register.
 “We are here to meet the ever-changing educational needs of the community and the current demand is in career retraining.  Whether someone has recently been laid off, re-entering the workforce or just looking to transition into a new career, Schoolcraft College can provide them with an effective strategy to achieve their goals,” says Sherry Zylka, Associate Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development.  Many of these programs are also eligible for MI Works! funding if the student qualifies through the No Worker Left Behind program.
 For those who may have the need and/or desire to continue their professional development and increase their skill set, we offer many management and small business classes that can help with that pursuit. Of course, we continue to offer our renowned culinary seminars, as well as a wide variety of personal enrichment courses like metal sculpting, photography and physical fitness classes like Zumba® and Hoop Blast to help people unwind and stay healthy.  The course selections are endless and we have something for everyone.
