Wind Ensemble to perform free outdoor concert June 9

On Wednesday, June 9, 2010 the Schoolcraft College Wind Ensemble will perform a free outdoor concert at the college's Radcliff Center in Garden City. The concert begin at 7:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs.

The Wind Ensemble will perform a number of selections "perfect for a relaxing summer evening," according to the group's director, Paul Michaelsen. "We are very pleased to host the debut of Stephen Noble of Livonia as student conductor. He will be conducting the Wind Ensemble in the performance of a contemporary piece, "Mystery on Mena Mountain," by Julie Ciroux-West," said Michaelsen. "The piece is based on a famous legend told in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas."

In addition, the Wind Ensemble will perform musical works by John Williams, John P. Sousa, Karl King and George Gershwin. The Radcliff Center is located at 1751 Radcliff Street in Garden City, just south of Ford Road, between Venoy and Wayne Roads.
