James Fausone selected to fill Board of Trustees vacancy

Schoolcraft College trustees have chosen James G. Fausone to fill a vacancy on the Board of Trustees. He will be sworn in at the regular board meeting August 25 and will serve until the next regular board election in November, at which time the seat will be up for election.
Fausone, a Canton resident, is an attorney and partner in the Fausone Bohn, LLP law firm in Northville. He holds a Juris Doctorate from Gonzaga University School of Law and two bachelor’s degrees, in environmental engineering and oceanography, from the University of Michigan.
“I have watched the college’s journey over the last decade and find it to be an important institution in western Wayne County,” said Fausone, who brings a wealth of community service experience along with extensive business and financial knowledge to the board.
No stranger to the college, Fausone serves as the Treasurer for the Schoolcraft College Foundation Board of Governors. He is also active in a number of other organizations including serving on the board of directors for the Canton Community Foundation, Livonia Chamber of Commerce and the University of Michigan College of Engineering Civil and Environmental Engineering Friends Board, and is an elected trustee of the Canton Public Library.
The Board of Trustees received four applications for the vacant position previously held by Philip N. Cascade.  Interviews with the four candidates took place last week, after which the board met July 12 to select Fausone.
“The field of applicants was impressive,” said Board Chair Gregory J. Stempien. “Each individual had something to offer the college, which made the choice very difficult.”
