Concerts in November

Schoolcraft College's Music Department will host three very special concerts in November including pianist Alvin B. Waddles, III, on November 3; a Choral Concert on November 7; and pianist Antonio Poma-Baldi on November 19.
Alvin B. Waddles, III, will perform a free piano concert on Wednesday, November 3, at noon in the college's VisTaTech Center as part of the college's Noon Concert Series for 2010-11. A native of Detroit, Waddles began studying piano at the age of eight. He continued his studies at Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Michigan School of Music. He has taught in the Detroit and Ann Arbor public school systems and has served in the music ministries of several churches. In addition he has been the musical director and/or pianist for many theatrical productions including The Wiz, The Color Purple, Chorus Line, West Side Story, Sophisticated Ladies and the Detroit Music Hall's recent production of Ain't Misbehavin'. On Sunday, November 7, the Schoolcraft College Choirs will perform a Fall Choral Concert at 3:30 p.m. at Frist Presbyterian Church in Plymouth, 701 Church Street, across from Central Middle School. The concert is free and open to the public. The choirs will perform a wide variety of selections in celebration of the season.
The Friday Evening Concert Series will kickoff the 2010-11 season with a performance by painist Antonio Pompa-Baldi on Friday, November 19 at 8 p.m. in the VisTaTech Center. Tickets are $20 per person and $10 for students and can be purchased at www.scboxoffice.com or by calling 734-462-4403. A distinguished professor of piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music, Pompa-Baldi has toured on four continents winning numerous competitions and garnering rave reviews. He will be performing selections from Schubert, Schumann, Debussy and Rachmaninoff.
Season tickets for the Friday Evening Concert series are $70 and also include the following upcoming performances: Yehonatan Berick, violin, and Pauline Martin, piano, on February 25; Panayis Lyras, piano, on April 1; and Suren Bagratuni, cello, on May 6.
The remaining concerts on the Noon Concert Series schedule include: Christopher Scholl, tenor, and Kevin Bylsma, piano, on December 1; Livonia Symphony Players on February 9; Schoolcraft Faculty on March 16; and Logan Skelton, piano, on April 13.
