MACRAO Agreement
For now you don’t need to know what MACRAO stands for. Just know that Michigan’s two-year and four-year colleges have come together to ease the transition between their campuses. The agreement allows for 30 credit hours of coursework completed at a community college to transfer toward the general education requirements of a participating four-year school. The general MACRAO Transfer Agreement guidelines require completion of the following:
- English Composition – 6 credit hours (ENG 101 & 102)
- Science and Math – 8 credit hours (courses must be in at least 2 subject areas and must include 1 lab class)
- Social Science – 8 credit hours (courses must be in at leas 2 subject areas)
- Humanities – 8 credit hours (courses must be in at least 2 subject areas)
Students working to obtain the MACRAO designation on their Schoolcraft transcript must earn at least one-half (15 credit hours) of the MACRAO applicable courses at Schoolcraft College. Courses used in fulfilling the MACRAO certification must have grades at a 2.0 or higher.
