Community Opportunities to Enjoy a Meal on Campus and Support the Needy

Published Dec 02, 2013

Tues., Dec. 3, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., VisTaTech Center, main campus in Livonia

The annual Empty Bowl Project sale and luncheon provides an opportunity for the community to visit campus, enjoy and explore the creative talent of the college’s students and share a delicious meal, all to benefit a very worthy cause—the Schoolcraft College Food Pantry.

Ceramic bowls and other ceramic pieces created and donated by the students enrolled in ceramics classes at the college will be available to purchase. Items range in price from $10-35. The purchase of a bowl includes a bowl of soup, a piece of bread and a glass of water provided by the college’s Culinary Arts and Food Services departments. The simplicity of the meal reminds of us of those in our community who need our help during the holiday season and throughout the entire year.

In addition to helping the hungry, the ceramic pieces make great holiday gifts - something to consider as the holiday season draws near. The items for sale include a wide array of stylings, from the very simple to more intricate pieces of art.

Tues., Dec. 3, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Radcliff Center, Garden City

The faculty, staff and students of the Radcliff Center will also be sponsoring a special Chili Bowl Luncheon to raise funds for the Radcliff Food Pantry. The community is invited to join with faculty, staff and students at the Radcliff Center for a delicious, hot bowl of chili for only $1 per bowl.
